I started running at a very early age, and loved getting involved in all the races while at primary school. At highschool I relished the challenge of sprint racing, which is where I first discovered the benefits of running spikes. Having represented my school at 100 metre sprinting and 110 metre hurdles, by the time I was 18 years old, I switched to cross country running, with an altogether different set of spiked running shoes, and ran several half marathons for charity fundraisers.
Then as uni came along the running took a back seat, and it is only in recent years that I have ventured back into it, purely for fun and general exercise. I’m not often seen in spikes these days pounding the concrete, but definitely noticed a difference in those days of track and cross country racing.
I hope you enjoy the information you find here on my site, and I especially hope you give yourself at least one go with a pair of running spikes; they’re not for everybody, and you need to train in them regularly to get used to them, but as the saying goes: “Don’t knock ‘em if you ain’t tried ‘em!”
Happy running!
Ken
